Kaonashi, or "Faceless," is a mysterious spirit from Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away (2001), directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It has a ghost-like form with a mask-like face and a dark, shadowy body. Initially quiet and reserved, it becomes influenced by the desires and emotions of those around it, reflecting themes of loneliness, greed, and the human longing for connection. Through its interactions with the protagonist, Chihiro, Kaonashi plays a key role in the film's exploration of compassion and self-discovery.
